Open Fiber was created to build an ultra broadband (UBB) network in FTTH (Fiber To The Home) optic fiber across all Italian regions. To achieve this goal we have chosen a “wholesale only” business model so as to guarantee free access to all interested operators, on equal terms, giving users the broadest choice.
Our mission pursues the connectivity target set out by the EU with 2030 Digital Compass and by Italian Government with Italia 1 Giga, in order to provide ultra-fast connectivity to citizens, institutions and businesses in all European countries.
Today Open Fiber boasts the largest FTTH network in Italy and the third biggest in Europe, an infrastructure entirely in fiber optic which delivers connection speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second (Gbps).
As an infrastructure player, Open Fiber is responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of the fiber optic network in big cities and medium-sized towns, with private investment, and in small municipalities, where it operates as an Infratel licensee.
